Waking up can be hard, especially when you just want to stay warm and comfy under your covers and do nothing but sleep and watch Netflix. I totally get it, but come on people: when that alarm clock goes off it means it is time for a new day. Do you want to make it the best day ever? Of course you do. There are some rituals that you should adopt in order to make every day the best day you ever had. Even when life being fickle and difficult, these morning routines will give you balance, energy and encouragement to have the most wonderful day you can possibly have:

1. Think About The Amazing Day You Are About To Have.

When your alarm goes off in the morning and you are debating whether you should hit the snooze button or not, try visualizing what your day will look like. Try not to daydream so that you are not disappointed by the truth of the matter, which is that you most likely will have to get up and go to work and act like a functioning adult. However, think about how wonderful it is that you are given a chance to make your mark on the world in the matter, shape, or farm.

2. Stretch Out A Little.

Once you are finally leaning up in your bed, stretch out your arms and legs a little bit. Not only will this loosen up your body for the day ahead of you, but it will also be a good release of any tension that you are experiencing. Going into the day with minimal stress will make for a much better day.

3. Have Everything Laid Out The Night Before.

If you can carve out an extra 15 minutes the previous night, your morning will be much more relaxed. Getting ready is much easier when you already have an outfit laid out and everything you need for uni or work packed up and ready to go the night before. Instead of running around frantically trying to get dressed and ready, you will be able to take your time and not start your day in a frazzled state of mind. Preparing the night before will make you feel like you are starting off your day productively.

4. Sing And Dance While You Get Ready.

Have a little bit of fun while you are getting ready. Playing some upbeat tunes and dancing while you are brushing your teeth will put you in a good mood at the beginning of your day. Singing and dancing is always a good time, especially when nobody is watching you. So grab your make-shift microphone (aka hairbrush) and bust a move while you are on your way to getting ready for the day.

5. Think Of Three Things You Are Thankful For.

It is incredibly easy to think about how our days are going to play out in a to-do list format. We think about how we can check off as many things as possible, and this turns into a really stressful game that your mind plays. Instead, wake up every morning and think of three things you are thankful for. Having one of those mornings where you think that there is nothing to be grateful for in your life? Allow me to help you.

  • You woke up, meaning you are alive.
  • Being alive means you have a chance to achieve greatness.
  • Achieving greatness means making your mark on the world, which is a beautiful idea.

There are three things to be thankful for every day you wake up. Feel free to add to that list or to state other things you are lucky to have.

6. Eat Breakfast.

Not trying to sound like a mother or anything, but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Even if you do not have time to make some fancy omelette, get something healthy in your stomach so that your body can absorb its nutrients and provide you with fuel throughout the day. Like a car needs fuel, your body needs food to keep it running properly. You would never leave for a road trip with little to no fuel in your car, so you should not start your day until you have put some food in your belly.

7. Inhale Today, Exhale Yesterday.

Each morning you are given a clean slate. A new day is a new opportunity to be wonderful and live up to our expectations. Everything about the past has already been said and done, so instead of worrying about what you cannot change, take on the new day with a confidence that cannot be broken.
