6 Reasons You Should Move Out

The idea of living alone can seem scary to some, intriguing for others, or maybe it just hasn't even ever crossed your mind. Living alone is something that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. Think about it, you grew up living with your family. Then you went to college and you had roommates, and then maybe you moved to get your first job and you had other roommates.

You've always had the company of someone other than just yourself, which is fine, but think about giving yourself this opportunity. This step or change could enhance your relationship with your favorite person: yourself.

1. You Learn More About Yourself

When you have the chance to be by yourself, you'll also be given the opportunity to get to know yourself better. That may seem crazy. How could you get to know yourself better? Easy. When it's just you and your own thoughts, you may discover things about yourself you didn't know. Maybe you'll realize how uncomfortable you are by the fact you're alone and you never realized it.

Maybe you'll come to the conclusion that you're actually really sloppy, and it turns out it wasn't your roommates who were messy all along. You'll get to see what you never noticed before, and this helps you understand yourself on a deeper level.

2. You'll Become Comfortable Being Alone

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of being alone, let alone living alone, this will be extremely helpful. Living by yourself when you're scared of being alone is the best thing you can do to overcome this fear. You're pushing yourself completely out of your comfort zone, and this will help you get over the fear even faster because you're jumping right into it.

The more you immerse yourself in being alone, the less scary it becomes. Once you live alone and realize you're fine and actually happy, you'll become obsessed with your alone time. This is not to say that you won't want to move in with someone ever again. It just means you'll appreciate the one on one time with just yourself down the road.

3. You Can Do Whatever You Want

Remember how annoying it was having to worry about being loud, messy or annoying? Well those days are over. It's just you now and that means you're the boss. There is nothing better than the freedom of calling all your own shots.

You can dance around in your underwear, leave plates in the dishes for days, and fall asleep with all the lights on. No one will get mad or upset. You're in complete control.

4. You Become More Self-Sufficient

Living by yourself can be a test of your independence. You cook, clean and generally take care of yourself and your place. If you choose to not do those things, which you are able to do, you'll realize you don't feel very put together. Once you're in the midst of the responsibility of paying your own bills and keeping a place clean so you can have company over, the pressure is on.

You have to pay bills on time and make a good impression on friends, family, and significant others. You'll find you care more about staying on top of things because all of this is your responsibility, and a reflection of who you are.

5. It's An Accomplishment

Maintaining a place, and your life is a lot of work, but it's also a huge accomplishment. Living by yourself is a pretty big milestone in your life. It means you're ready to take on the world by yourself. Sure, you'll need some support and advice along the way, but generally, you feel like you've got everything under control. This is an awesome feeling. You'll feel proud of yourself for being so capable and independent.

6. Confident

Lastly, all of this can only lead to increased self-confidence. Look at everything you have accomplished to get to this point: You've probably completed some type of schooling, gone through break ups, had awful roommates, learned who you were and discovered what you wanted. You have lived life to the point where you feel you are ready for the next step, and that next step may be living alone.

You'll feel great about the fact that you can afford to pay your own rent because you work hard and you're successful. You'll feel awesome about how well you decorated the apartment and are excited to show it off.

Most importantly, you're confident because you've come so far and are comfortable enough with just yourself as company. If you want to hang out with friends you'll invite them over or go out, but at the end of the day, you're at a point where you love yourself and that's all you need to come home to.
